Division of Pharmaceuticals and Laboratory Services

  • To provide vision and leadership on HIV Pharmaceuticals and Laboratory Services issues
  • To be the overall advisor on HIV Logistic, supply chain system and commodities matters to the NACP and the Ministry.
  • To lead the quantification/forecasting of HIV medicines and other HIV related commodities.
  • To assess and evaluate the performance for short and long-term government and donor-funded operational plans for improving supply chain management.
  • To plan, budget, manage and monitor the desired HIV commodity stock levels in the supply chain.
  • To provide leadership and technical support to the Regions (RACCs), Districts (DACCs) and all Technical staffs on feedback mechanism to ensure that approved stock status of HIV related and Laboratory supplies including pediatric formulations reports are disseminated to all levels of the health system and partners.
  • To provide technical assistance for rational use of commodities including provision of safe blood.
  • To coordinate revision or development of policy guidelines, training materials, Standards Operating Procedures and Protocols for HIV Logistics and commodities
  • In collaboration with Strategic Information Directorate facilitate the execution of the quality data for HIV commodities quantification purposes.
  • To develop proposal for resource mobilization for activities under logistics, supply chain and commodities directorate.
  • To coordinate all Implementing Partners under each Supply chain system and ensure updated MoU exists and in line with Regional and Council Comprehensive Health Plans in the areas that they work (R/CCHP)
  • To coordinate forums for logistics and supply chain with HIV/AIDS stakeholders including TWGs, Pharmaceuticals and Laboratory Services Subcommittee, Information sharing fora; and ensure meaningful participation of Directorate’s staffs in such kind of fora organized by other stakeholders
  • To develop and set performance standards with each staff in the Pharmaceuticals and Laboratory services Directorate (Open Performance Appraisal System)
  • To ensure timely submission of planned activities under the Pharmaceuticals and Laboratory services Directorate on all available source of funds (CDC, GF, WHO, UNICEF, PEPFAR)

Pharmaceutical Services

  • To lead the quantification/forecasting of HIV medicines and other HIV related commodities
  • To be the overall advisor on HIV Logistic, the supply chain system and commodities matter to the NACP and the Ministry.
  • To lead the quantification/forecasting of HIV medicines and other HIV related commodities.
  • To assess and evaluate the performance for short and long-term government and donor-funded operational plans for improving supply chain management.
  • To coordinate supply chain interventions as far as HIV medicines are concerned.
  • To be the overall overseer of rational use of HIV medicine and pharmacovigilance.
  • Electronic logistics data systems

Lab Services
